The choral school "St. Paraskeva" was created in the year 2000 under the patronage of "St. Paraskeva" orthodox church in our capital Sofia. Later on since September 2004 till the autumn of 2007 the choral school was adopted under the aegis of the National Academy of Arts "Nikolay Pavlovich" and participates actively in the cultural calendar of the university.

The school at the time consists of a childrens' formation and a chamber choir of students and young specialists. The repertoire consists of christian and secular music by Bulgarian and international masters.

Through the years choral school "St. Paraskeva" participated in a pleiad of events: the International Fetsival of Orthodox Music in Sofia (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004); Music Celebration " Petko Staynov" (2001, 2003, 2004); the second, third and fourth meeting of the academic choirs in Blagoevgrad (2001, 2003, 2005); The Bulgarian Choral Arts Panorama (2002); "The Festival of Light" event of Bulgarian-American cultural exchange collaboration (2002) etc. The school was a key organizer and participant of the international choral meeting Bulgaria-Slovenia in 2003 and has successfully toured in Greece (2002), Slovenia (2003) and Italy (2004).

The founder and main conductor of the choral school "St. Paraskeva" is Mrs Petya Pavlovich (1939-2007), a decorated distinguished member of the Bulgarian choral conductors society with national and international renown.

Different choir masters worked and contributed throughout the school's existence - Galina Lukanova - 2000-2005, Michalis Pagoni - 2005-2006 and Steliana Barakova, who also conducted the childrens' formation starting September 2006 till the autumn of 2007.

Petya Pavlovich
Founder and conductor of the first ever choral school in Bulgaria in the town of Kazanlak as well as later on the "St. Paraskeva" choral school. Mrs Pavlovich was a leading figure of the Bulgarian choral and conductors arts and her professional life includes multitude ot achievements starting with the innovative for the time in the country foundation of a choral school consisting of seven choirs in her hometown Kazanlak. She has lead the Professional Women Chamber Choir of the Bulgarian National Television from 1985 to 1992, as well as the Sofia Librarians Choir "Morfova-Prokopova" from 1986 to 1991 and the "Rodna pesen" Mixed Choir, Haskovo from 1990 to 1992. All the choral formations conducted by Mrs Pavlovich excelled in various competitions and won prizes internationally in Italy, Germany, Hungary, Russia, Greece, Czechia and Yugoslavia.

Petya Pavlovich used to be a long-lived associated member of the Bulgarian National Radio. She contributed her experience to the cultural life of the country as a member of the Bulgarian Choral Union Managing Committee, the "Petko Staynov" and "Chudomir" foundations etc.
